Palo Alto Networks today announced that Nicolet National Bank has implemented the PA-4000 Series next-generation firewall to provide application visibility and control, enable enhanced compliance reporting and update and consolidate its IT security infrastructure.

Founded in 2000, Nicolet National Bank is a rapidly growing, relationship-focused regional bank. With the PA-4000 Series, Nicolet National Bank has granular, user-specific understanding of application usage for its employees. In addition, the bank has also appropriately fortified its defenses against threats from emerging forms of malware, and the bandwidth and productivity drains related to non-business applications.

“To differentiate in this market, we must maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction, while complying with significant regulatory demands,” said Jon Biskner, Chief Information Security Officer for Nicolet National Bank. “Ensuring business applications are available, and that customer and operational data is protected, are sometimes competing demands we must meet.  The PA-4000 Series helps us achieve this goal by enabling us to extend appropriate control over users and applications.”

In this first phase of deployment, the PA-4000 Series will work in conjunction with the existing security infrastructure of traditional firewalls and proxies. In subsequent phases, the bank will replace those devices.

“For regulated organizations like Nicolet National Bank, visibility is key for compliance,” said Steve Mullaney, Vice President of Marketing for Palo Alto Networks. “The PA-4000 Series makes it easy for IT to understand and control the applications on their networks.”
