  • "The university's requirements were based upon a modern security platform that is application-aware and offers strong throughput. Khipu Networks helped with the, design, integration, implementation, migration, commissioning, and support. We are pleased that we could help the university deploy Palo Alto Networks technologies in order to provide faster, secure, and more services. The PA-7050 firewall is ideal for universities that need a future-proof, scalable, long-term solution to support and protect their growing student populations and core assets."

- Matthew Ashman, Sales Director, Khipu Networks

Palo Alto Networks is enabling the University of Southampton to increase bandwidth throughput from 'Janet,' the United Kingdom's high-speed network for research and education, from 12GbpsB to 10GbpsB. The additional bandwidth has eliminated network latency and resource availability constraints, and allows researchers to transfer large files and conduct High Performance Computing (HPC) research. Palo Alto Networks granular visibility into applications and traffic provides better protection for the University's users and data. The PA-7050 firewalls were installed by Khipu Networks, a longstanding Palo Alto Networks Platinum Partner and certified Authorized Service Centre (ASC), which designed and maintains the university's security infrastructure.

The University of Southampton quickly recognized the benefits of the Palo Alto Networks platform, which consists of a Next-Generation Firewall, Threat Intelligence Cloud, and Advanced Endpoint Protection. The deployment includes Threat Prevention and Palo Alto Networks Panorama network security management offering, which lets the University easily manage all of its security web policies from just one location and interface.
