Drive simplicity, reduce risk, and lower costs
- Outdated technology in legacy firewalls that couldn’t secure against modern-day threats.
- Inadequate legacy security tools and disparate solutions for the evolving threat landscape.
- Complex management of multiple firewalls across multiple business units.
- Lack of a zero trust architecture across the organization.
- No standardization or movement toward cloud services.
“Instead of relying on capabilities from different vendors, AEV wanted a consolidated solution that allowed for a centralized view of our security stack, ease of management and better integration. An analogy we like to use to illustrate our point is, instead of managing three different cars with three different engines, we wanted to opt for one large van with a single engine that will get us to our destination.”

Modernization journey
AEV needed to modernize its security architecture. The company knew it needed to optimize management of its disparate solutions and invest in a security and firewall solution that could scale with future requirements.
By partnering with Palo Alto Networks, AEV implemented our next-generation technologies to gain assured business continuity, advanced application visibility and access control, as well as threat prevention and detection. In moving from traditional VPNs to betting on our best-in-class, consolidated solutions, AEV was able to easily navigate the challenges of remote working during the pandemic, as well as offer real-time access from anywhere.
With Strata Network Security Platform, AEV was able to mitigate security risks by applying granular access controls and enforcing Zero Trust principles to enable least-privileged access. AEV successfully implemented Prisma Access with plans for expansion to other business units to provide secure access to applications and data for the company’s hybrid workforce. With Palo Alto Networks, AEV is able to future-proof its security and achieve zero trust.
In opting for Strata Network Security Platform, AEV realized the following results.
40% savings in time and cost
Consolidation to one solution provider significantly reduced staffing. It also lowered AEV’s mean time to detect and mean time to respond. Incident resolution and troubleshooting are more streamlined because the AEV IT team now has one provider—as opposed to many—to contact for assistance and support.
80% reduction in the number of tickets raised
The AEV team deployed Palo Alto Networks NGFWs, enabling them to streamline their ticketing process, which significantly reduced the number of tickets opened. This was a tremendous change from previously sifting through the tickets and trying to make sense of the data collected from the 35 service units the team managed.
66% reduction in disparate tools
The switch to Palo Alto Networks meant AEV was able to consolidate from multiple vendors to one vendor. The company gained centralized security monitoring with unified security policies, which in turn resulted in ease of management. This was a major improvement from the past, when AEV had to manage three separate vendors whose solutions had overlapping capabilities.
“We look at Palo Alto Networks as a long-term partner that has helped us achieve robust network security solutions and streamline our tech stack. Their ability to swiftly pivot and support our requirements as we progress our roadmap to achieving zero trust is particularly noteworthy.”

In partnership with Palo Alto Networks, AEV successfully consolidated its network security, taking a major step toward achieving a zero trust network architecture. This consolidation has given the company scalable NGFWs, improved application visibility as well as enhanced threat prevention and detection.
AEV has gained confidence in our company and our solutions. In fact, looking ahead, AEV is considering becoming a managed security services provider (MSSP), because the company is looking at cybersecurity solutions through a cost-revenue-enabler perspective. With this endeavor, AEV, which currently incurs a cost to secure the organization, is looking to generate revenue and enable further growth by potentially becoming a service provider to other organizations.
